PROPERTIES OF THE APIs
Glutathione is an antioxidant naturally found in human cells that neutralizes free radicals, boosts the immune system and detoxifies the body. It can also cause skin lightening by converting melanin to a lighter color and deactivating the enzyme tyrosinase, which helps produce the pigment.
Your body makes alpha-lipoic acid, a natural chemical that’s in every cell you have. As an antioxidant, it attacks free radicals throughout the body. In skin care products, companies tout it as a substance that can erase fine lines and wrinkles, diminish pores, and give skin a healthy glow.
It creates tighter, smoother skin, reducing wrinkles as well as dark circles under the eyes. Arginine is used for speeding up wound healing and increasing blood flow to cold hands and feet, especially in people with diabetes. When the body is not functioning at optimum, l-arginine production suffers.
Dark patches on your skin can be caused by too much pigment (melanin), which is triggered by hormones or other causes, called melasma, this condition is believed to be treatable through the use of topical vitamin E. Studies show that hyperpigmentation may be only moderately affected by using topical vitamin E oil.
Lycopene’s protection against UV damage is limited and not considered a good replacement for using sunscreen. Lycopene may help increase your skin’s defense against sunburns and damage caused by UV rays.
Vitamin C lightens skin
Tyrosinase converts the amino acid tyrosine into melanin, the pigment that gives your skin its color. A 2019 review of studies published in the Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology examined the effect of topical vitamin C on skin spots caused by sun damage.
